COOKING TIME: 4 HOURS
SERVES: 8
Looking for the perfect appetizer to bring to your next party? This shrimp and avocado recipe is fresh, flavorful, and guaranteed to be the first dish to vanish from the table. Creamy avocado meets tender, seasoned shrimp in a combo that everyone will rave about—and soon, it’ll be your go-to crowd-pleaser too!
Ingredients:
1 lb raw fresh extra-large shrimp, peeled, deveined, and tails off
7 fresh limes, divided
2 fresh avocados, peeled and diced (2 cups)
1 fresh jalapeño pepper, seeded and diced (¼ cup)
¼ cup fresh chopped cilantro
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground black pepper
Directions:
1.Dice the shrimp and add to a large bowl. Squeeze 6 limes into the bowl to cover the shrimp. Toss to combine. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set in the refrigerator to marinate for 4 hours.
2.After 4 hours, drain the shrimp from the lime juice. Heat a medium frying pan on medium low heat. Add the shrimp and sauté, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque.
3.Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix the diced avocado with the juice of 1 lime.
4.Add the jalapeño, cilantro, salt, and black pepper and stir to evenly incorporate.
5.Add the cooked shrimp and toss to combine. Serve immediately.
NOTES:
Leave the avocado pits in the dip to keep it from turning brown.
Keep covered with plastic wrap to limit air exposure until ready to serve.
You can omit the shrimp and it will just be guacamole!
These taralli are the Italian snack I grew up with — always waiting in a bowl on my grandmother’s kitchen table. Crisp, golden, and lightly flavored with anise, this Southern Italian family recipe is made the traditional way: by feel, not by strict measurements. Passed down through generations, Gram’s taralli are perfect with coffee, tea, or wine and keep beautifully for weeks. If you’re craving a nostalgic, old-world Italian snack, this is the recipe to make.
